We're here today at Kobra Farms just out of
Tito to check out the Dairy Robot R9 500.
We removed the left side of the pit,
lifted the roof by 600mm and dug two additional pits
behind the robots to make access to the rear of the cow easier.
The Kubras maintain six milking points in the
conventional herringbone so they can access
the cows easier for vaccinations and any other treatments.
The cow walks through the entry gates,
the gate shuts,
the feed bin closes to secure the cow
before the feed is dispensed.
The Kubras are milking 150 cows through a voluntary
cow-led system which is perfect for the New
Zealand pasture-based environment.
There's a time-of-flight camera which searches
the cow's udder and accurately attaches
the cups.
The entire milking process is completed with
in-liner from teat stimulation through to
teat spraying.
As I pointed out earlier,
this is the pit that we've installed at the Kubras so they can have
better access
to the cow for any extra milking interventions.
Once the milking is finished,
the cups de-attach,
the gate opens and the cow is drafted onto new
pasture.
