I'm Dennis Lomax.
I'm Erin Lomax.
And we are down in Valencia Creek, Victoria.
We were looking for a farm that we could put robots on,
so we sort of bought the farm around that.
There's 10 GEA R9500s.
I think it's great.
I'm not physically standing there milking the cows all day.
We're milking 530 cows going through the shed.
70 cows dry,
so there's about 600 cows floating around.
Got two kids.
keeps us busy.
I wanted to spend more family time and
not spend so much time in the dairy.
We did a new rotary at the last farm,
but Erin gets a bit attached to her
cows and won't let anyone else milk.
And I didn't want her milking seven days a week,
so we thought we'd give this a go.
I'm a lot more involved with the cows now
than I have been when rotary was going.
When the rotary was going,
I don't really want to go near it,
near the cows or the dairy,
but quite often you'll see me in there looking at the computer.
The cows seem to be a lot happier and
the cows seem to be a lot healthier.
The robots,
I think the cows coming in when they want.
For some cows doing three milking a day,
it's got to be good for them.
And hopefully they'll come in when they're full
of milk instead of waiting until they're busting.
The information that you can get is pretty good.
We know exactly what every cow's doing,
high cell count,
put a quarter off.
It's making all that a lot easier.
There's been a lot of cows go up the race
and they're not really worth being here.
Now we've got the GEA shed set up that
we can go to netball whenever we want.
We don't have to be back at a certain time.
That we can all leave.
Normally it'd be just me and the kids going to do something,
but now Erin can come with us as well.
Netball or seeing Erin's family or seeing my family.
Hopefully get a good workforce so that I can
actually spend more family time with the girls.
The robots are just a great tool.
Better production, have cow comfort,
have personal comfort and the ability
to do things off-farm when they want to.
Support is not always having to come to the farm.
You know, especially the new robot install.
They've got the ability of the techs in Warragul,
we've got GEA techs in Melbourne.
You know,
there's techs overseas that we can tap into and that's
great support for the dealers and the customers.
And it's good.
It's a good system.
